KM0: New Technique to Improve Hand Hygiene in Healthcare Professionals

Última modificación:

In medical settings, rigorously following hygiene protocols is critical, but the short time available between patients makes it a challenge. Hand hygiene is one of the most crucial steps to avoid cross-contamination and protect both patients and healthcare professionals.

In order to improve compliance with these practices, Distrauma Medical has launched KM0, a new innovative technique that facilitates correct hand hygiene. The system consists of joining the hydroalcoholic solution dispenser and the glove dispenser so that everything is within reach of the professional’s hand, optimizing time and avoiding errors.

The KM0 technique is not only about placing the Safedon nitrile glove dispenser near the Safedon nitrile glove dispenser and the hydroalcoholic solution, but also adding reminder stickers at key points. These stickers clearly indicate the steps to follow to ensure proper hand hygiene. One of the most prominent stickers reads:“STOP hand hygiene first“, which provides a simple and effective visual reminder for healthcare professionals. This visual system helps standardize and improve hand hygiene protocol, ensuring that all professionals follow the same process, with no exceptions.

The use of Safedon nitrile gloves is key in this technique. These gloves are designed to be dispensed individually and by the grip, which avoids contact with other gloves in the box and prevents contamination of the critical area of the glove, such as the palm and fingers. This significantly reduces the risk of cross-contamination and ensures a safer environment for everyone.

The implementation of KM0 not only improves hand hygiene, but also educates and empowers professionals to adopt safer and more efficient habits in their daily practice.
