Problems with reusable webbing

DETERIORATE AFTER 10 WASHES
To eliminate viruses and bacteria, reusable webbing should be machine washed at over 80°C, but Velcro only tolerates up to 60°C. Washing at above 80°C will deteriorate the webbing after only 10 washes.

BACTERIA AND VIRUSES
Bacteria and viruses are often transmitted from the patient to the girth during surgery. MRSA and other skin bacteria can be transferred when the patient’s skin contacts the girth. In addition, body fluids, such as blood and mucus, are highly likely to be transferred through the nurse’s gloves.
